Here are some achievements of Mahama and Akufo-Addo that Okyeame Kwame appreciates
Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has highlighted what he considers notable achievements of President John Dramani Mahama and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on September 22, 2026, the musician mentioned that there are several things he admires about the two leaders, although he mentioned specific initiatives he considered significant.
According to Okyeame Kwame, one of the things he appreciates about President Mahama is what he described as his handling of the cedi-dollar exchange rate, stating that it has made it easier for businesses to plan.
“The things John Mahama has done that are impressive are many, but I would just mention two for now. I love the way he dealt with the dollar. He has made it easy for businessmen to plan well,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame also praised President Mahama for his advocacy for reparatory justice for Africans and people of African descent.
He said he appreciated Mahama's efforts to bring the issue of reparations to international discussions.
“Again, the reparations that African leaders are scared to take to the UN, he took it to the UN to discuss it, not only for Ghanaians but for black people in the world. Because of the cruelty and wickedness the white people did to us, they didn’t do 1/100 of that to their people,” he stated.

According to Okyeame Kwame, reparations are necessary because of the historical impact of slavery and other forms of exploitation on Africans.
“What the white people are supposed to give us for slavery and the bad things they did, one wise man has to go for it. That’s what I thank him for,” he shared.
Turning his attention to former President Akufo-Addo, Okyeame Kwame credited him with the introduction of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme.
“What Nana Akufo-Addo also did well was to introduce free education,” he stated.
Okyeame Kwame also expressed appreciation to Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, describing her historic position as a source of motivation for women and young girls.
“I’m also grateful that Naana Opoku-Agyemang is the first woman to become vice president of Ghana. She’s a mother and she’s been able to combine education and leadership to get to where she is today. It should be a huge motivation for women and young ladies,” he added.
