2026 National Best Farmer to receive Italy trip, GH¢1.2m and other prizes
The Overall National Best Farmer for 2026 will receive a seven-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Italy, alongside a prize package including GH¢1.2 million, a brand-new Nissan Navara pickup, a tractor and agricultural inputs.
The trip, sponsored by Mehak Company Limited, will also include the winner’s spouse or partner.
The prize package was announced by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms ahead of the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration.
Under the arrangement, Mehak Company Limited will sponsor the Overall National Best Farmer and the winner’s spouse or partner for the seven-day trip, which will combine agricultural study and leisure.
The visit is expected to expose the winner to modern agricultural technologies, sustainable production systems, value-chain development and food-processing innovations.
In addition to the trip, the Overall National Best Farmer will receive GH¢1.2 million in cash, a brand-new Nissan Navara pickup, a brand-new tractor and accessories, as well as other agricultural inputs and prizes.
Meanwhile, Covenant Farms will sponsor the 2026 National Best Poultry Farmer on a seven-day, all-expenses-paid technical and benchmarking trip to Italy.
The poultry-focused visit will expose the award winner to modern poultry production systems, technologies, sustainable practices and value-chain development.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture said the international exposure would complement government’s efforts to modernise agriculture and equip farmers with knowledge of advanced farming, processing and production systems.
The Ministry said it had also completed negotiations with the Embassy of Italy to facilitate travel arrangements for the eventual winners of the two categories.
It expressed appreciation to Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for supporting the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration.
The Ministry also encouraged farmers across the country to continue striving for improved productivity and innovation as Ghana recognises their contribution to food security and national development.
