Two foreigners arrested in Ghana over alleged murder of Senegalese goalkeeper
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested two foreign nationals in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré.
The suspects have been identified as 32-year-old Nigerien national Salifu Walid and 24-year-old Burkinabè national Aziz Wadrago Mane.
According to reports, authorities arrested the two on September 20, 2026, at their hideout in Banpanase, near Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Walid and Mane are members of a four-man group allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Touré, who died in Ghana in October 2025.

According to the police, the group operated under the guise of football scouting agents and allegedly used online platforms and personal networks to lure unsuspecting footballers to Ghana with promises of professional opportunities.
Touré, who was reportedly brought to Ghana after being promised a football opportunity, was later found dead.
His body was taken to the Manhyia District Government Hospital on October 16, 2025, by unidentified men believed to be foreigners, according to police reports.
The latest arrests come nearly a year after the young goalkeeper's death and mark a significant development in the police investigation.
Police are continuing efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crime and locate other alleged members of the group.
Two other individuals have reportedly been linked to the investigation, including Noukoubri Arzouma Sylviain, also known as Prince Pierre, who is said to be on the run, and another suspect identified as Barry.
