Do politicians who steal wear earrings and dreadlocks? - Okyeame Kwame
Musician Okyeame Kwame has expressed his thoughts on how individuals seen wearing earrings and dreadlocks have been stigmatised in the country.
In an interview with Nana Romeo, shared on social media on September 24, 2026, Okyeame Kwame noted that people who wear earrings and dreadlocks should be allowed to live freely without being stigmatised.
According to the musician, there are male politicians in the country who do not wear earrings or dreadlocks but are still accused of looting state resources.

He therefore argued that individuals should not be judged based on their appearance.
“The thing with Africans is that we major in minors. The important thing is that you don’t go to Parliament and start to steal. The important thing is to love and avoid insults.
“There are a lot of people who steal in government with low haircuts, in suits, and others. I haven’t seen a thief going to jail in a suit and low haircut. Show me one person who has gone to jail with dreadlocks for stealing from the government,” he said.

Okyeame Kwame further shared his reason for wearing an earring.
According to him, he initially started wearing an earring after the death of his father; however, after turning 50, he now wears it as a symbol of rebellion.
“I wear my earrings as a sign of rebellion. When I put it on, people don’t like it,” he added.
