LilWin cries while recounting challenges with Nigerian stars during movie shoot

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has broken down in tears while recounting some of the challenges he faced during the production of his upcoming movie, Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), which features several Nigerian stars. The movie was shot in Nzulezu, a community in the Western Region of Ghana where houses are built on stilts over water. According to LilWin, the location presented some challenges for the cast and crew, as they had to travel by boat for about 40 minutes to reach the filming location. Recounting the experience, the filmmaker said the Nigerian actors refused to return to the set after three days of shooting because they were no longer comfortable travelling on the water. He explained that the Nigerian actors suggested moving the production to another location, but that was difficult because the entire storyline was based on Nzulezu and its unique way of life. LilWin said the situation left him confused about how to proceed with the production, especially as the team had planned to shoot the movie over a week. Van Vicker 'slaps' LilWin with GH¢10m defamation suit “After three days of shooting the movie, all the stars said they would not return to the set or travel on the water again. They asked for the movie to be shot somewhere else, but the storyline was about Nzulezu, where people live on the water, and the entire story was based there. All the stars refused to go back on the water to continue shooting, and there was confusion,” he explained. The filmmaker acknowledged that travelling on the water could be frightening. However, he said he had to speak to the actors individually and reassure them in an attempt to convince them to continue with the production. LilWin also said he understood the Nigerian actors' concerns because one of their colleagues had died after drowning while shooting a water scene for a movie. He explained that the incident may have contributed to their fear of continuing the shoot in Nzulezu. “I don't blame the Nigerian stars because, not long ago, one of their colleagues drowned and died while shooting a water scene for a movie. So, to some extent, I understood their concerns,” he added. Several well-known Nollywood actors featured in LilWin's upcoming international movie, including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwo, Mike Ezuruonye, Charles Awurum, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko.
