Kusi Appiah, the legal representative of Ghanaian gospel musician Florence, has explained why his client is seeking a divorce from her estranged husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God’s Way Church.
Speaking to media personality Ola Michael on Peace FM on October 13, 2026, the lawyer explained that Florence wants to end the marriage because the preacher allegedly cheated on her with several women on multiple occasions.
Kusi Appiah further explained that most of the women Bishop Obinim allegedly cheated with later came to ridicule and insult the gospel musician.
He said Florence had tolerated the situation for a long time but now believes it has gone too far.
“He has cheated on her numerous times, and some of the women he cheated with even came to ridicule and insult her. She has tolerated this for a long time, but she now feels it has gone too far,” the lawyer said.
The lawyer also cited the lack of privacy in their marriage as another reason Florence wants a divorce.
According to him, although marital problems are common in many marriages, Bishop Obinim often takes issues between himself and Florence to the church auditorium and discusses them publicly.

He explained that Florence had complained to her estranged husband several times, asking him to keep their private matters away from the public, but he allegedly failed to listen to her.
“On several occasions, Obinim has taken issues from their marriage to the church auditorium and discussed them publicly. Every marriage deserves some privacy, and she has complained to him several times, asking him to stop making their private matters public, but he never listens to her.”
Kusi Appiah further disclosed that there is a third reason behind Florence's decision to seek a divorce. However, he said he would not reveal the details to the public for now.
Meanwhile, gospel musician Florence Obinim has filed for divorce from her husband, Bishop Angel Obinim, following their public separation.
After 24 years of marriage, Florence is reportedly seeking compensation and several properties as part of the divorce proceedings.
She is seeking GH¢2 million in damages, as well as a mansion at Trassaco Valley in East Legon and another mansion in Barcelona, Spain.
Her reported demands also include a 21-unit block of shops in Tema, Abroso Guest House in Accra, and a multi-storey property said to contain residential apartments, guest-house facilities and church facilities.
In addition, Florence is reportedly seeking two luxury vehicles and GH¢10,000 a week to cover her upkeep and personal expenses, along with any other properties the court may consider appropriate.
