The party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC), at a meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, approved the establishment of the Planning Committee and the Electoral Committee, the first two of 15 committees expected to oversee the organisation of the congress.

According to a statement issued by the NDC, the Planning Committee will coordinate preparations and logistics for the event, while the Electoral Committee will supervise electoral arrangements and processes in line with the party’s constitution, regulations and established procedures.

Fifi Kwetey, the NDC General Secretary, has been named chairman of the 21-member Planning Committee, which includes senior party figures such as James Agalga, Joseph Yammin, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, Mustapha Gbande Foyo, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Sammy Gyamfi, Hanna Bisiw and Edudzi Tamaklo.

Other members are Abanga Yakubu Alhassan, Abdul Rauf Khalid, Kobby Barlon, Mahdi Gibril, Alhaji Mohammed Mamah, Emmanuel S. Zumakpeh, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Susie Afua Adoboe, Professor Prosper Bani and Stan Dogbe. The regional chairman and regional secretary of the host region will also serve on the committee.

The committee’s other members are Kobby Barlon, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, Professor Francis Dodoo, Bede Ziedeng, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Mohammed Atta Natogmah, Margarete Chiravira and Professor Ibrahim Zubeiru.

The Electoral Committee will be responsible for ensuring that the congress’s electoral processes comply with the party’s internal rules and procedures.

The appointments mark an initial step in the NDC’s preparations for the December gathering, with 13 of the 15 planned committees yet to be established, according to the party’s statement.

The NDC has called on party members, stakeholders, and other relevant parties to cooperate with the committees as they carry out their respective duties.

The party says the arrangements are intended to ensure that the congress is conducted in a fair, transparent and orderly manner, consistent with its constitution and internal regulations.
