Louis Appiah appointed Director of Events and Programmes for NPP National Youth Wing
Louis Appiah, popularly known as Commander OD4, has been appointed Director of Events and Programmes for the National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His appointment follows 15 years of dedicated service and a steady rise through the ranks of the party. It comes as little surprise to those familiar with his political journey, leadership experience, and contributions to the NPP.
Commander OD4’s leadership journey began at the tertiary level, where he established himself as an active figure in student politics.
He served as Finance Officer of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at Koforidua Technical University (KTU).
He later rose to become the Eastern Regional SRC President and subsequently served as National Director of Finance for DESAG-UCC, further broadening his experience in student leadership, financial administration, and institutional engagement.
Within the NPP, Commander OD4 served as TESCON President at Koforidua Technical University during the 2011/2012 academic year, marking a significant milestone in his political journey.
He subsequently served as a Polling Station Youth Organiser and Polling Station Organiser before rising to become the New Juaben South Constituency Youth Organiser from 2018 to 2022, where he played an active role in grassroots party organisation and mobilisation.
His experience in party administration and electoral operations also saw him serve as Director of Operations for the NPP during the 2020 general elections and Deputy Campaign Coordinator for the 2024 general elections, both in the New Juaben South Constituency.
Commander OD4 has also been a committed member of the party’s Communication Wing since 2011, contributing to its communication strategies and political activities over the years.
Although his recent bid to become the Eastern Regional Youth Organiser was unsuccessful, his participation in the contest further strengthened his profile within the party and demonstrated his continued commitment to youth leadership and party development.
His appointment to the NPP National Youth Wing is expected to bring his wealth of experience in student leadership, event coordination, political communication, grassroots mobilisation, financial administration, and campaign operations to bear on the activities of the national youth leadership.
The appointment also signals the party’s continued efforts to harness the experience and commitment of its grassroots-oriented members as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
With an extensive background spanning student leadership, party organisation, and electoral campaigns, Commander OD4 is expected to contribute to strengthening youth engagement, improving programme coordination, and mobilising young party members towards the NPP’s goal of securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
