GH¢40K Stolen, Blade Cuts: Young man recounts alleged kidnapping at Kasoa

A young man has recounted how he was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by two men after boarding a taxi at Kasoa on September 21, 2026, claiming he lost more than GH¢40,000 in the incident. In a video shared on TikTok by Aryeequaye Brown on October 15, 2026, the young man said the incident occurred while he was returning home a trip to his elder brother’s church at Bubuashie, in the company of his sister. According to him, after dropping his sister off at her residence in Kasoa Downtown, he returned to the overhead area to find a vehicle to Liberia Camp. The young man said he boarded a taxi after hearing the driver call out his destination, unaware of the danger he was allegedly walking into. He said the occupants attacked him when they reached Crespo, a location he described as dark, by threatening him with a gun, a knife and a blade before he was blindfolded with a black cloth. “When we got to Crespo, the place was dark. Then these people took out weapons. They had a gun, knife, blade. They had some weapons on them,” he recounted. The young man alleged that the attackers transferred him to another vehicle and later took him to an uncompleted building in a bush, where they seized his phone and money. He further alleged that the men appeared to be planning to take him somewhere else and were preparing to restrain him with a rope. However, he said he managed to escape when both men left the room at different times. “I just got up, entered the bush and started running. I didn't even know where I was going. I didn't know whether I was moving to the left or to the right. I was so scared, but I was running for my life,” he said. He said he eventually reached a dusty road, where he stopped a passing motorbike rider and asked to be taken to a hospital. According to him, the rider transported him to Breku Hospital before helping him return home. The young man estimated his losses at more than GH¢40,000, explaining that the money included funds intended to be used for stage and lighting arrangements for a programme his brother was organising. He urged the public to be cautious when boarding commercial vehicles, particularly at night, advising commuters to use recognised transport stations and ensure that drivers are known to other operators before getting into their vehicles.
