I don’t regret choosing to play for Ghana over Germany – Anthony Baffoe
Former Black Stars player Anthony Baffoe has said that he remains proud of his decision to choose to play for Ghana over Germany in his footballing career.
He noted that even though his parents are Ghanaians, he was born and bred in Germany, where he began his career and featured for some clubs.
Speaking in an interview with sports broadcaster Michael Oti Adjei, he shared how his father passed away during his juvenile age and his wish for him to represent Ghana.

“I was a national team player, born and raised in Germany, with both Ghanaians. My father was a diplomat; may his soul rest in peace, and he loved football. He loved the teams with the white jerseys, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid. And he was also a big fan of Eusébio, they call him the Black Panther.
"He passed when I was 15. And he told me, 'You're going to take care of the family. I'm the 5th born out of 7.' And then he said, 'Will you play for Ghana?' And I said, Daddy, I promise you. So, you see, your identity will always be Ghanaian. And back in the day in Germany, it was totally different. We were not a lot, you know. Germany used to be a big hub for Ghanaians,” he said.
The former defender stated that the decision to play for Ghana was never a challenge, as he promised his late father to play for the national team.
“The first real, in quotes, Black player was Gerald Asamoah, who I think you had him on the show as well, and for me it was not a difficult choice, to be honest. And I tell you, and I repeat myself, up to today, I will never, I never regretted it. I was very happy to play for Ghana. I had some great stories from traveling,” he added.
