I sold 12 luxury cars to fund NDC - Regional Chairman claims

The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Richard Kofi Asiedu, says he sold his personal property and withdrew his own savings to fund the party’s campaign in the Central Region, helping it win more parliamentary seats and the presidential vote in the region. “When everybody was hiding their money instead of financing the party, some of us sold our properties, took out our investments and invested in the party,” he said. Dr Asiedu said that when he took office as Regional Chairman, the party was in financial difficulty because many members were holding back their money, believing the NDC would lose. He spoke to the media after filing his nomination to seek re-election as Regional Chairman. “I sold my 12 luxury cars. “Let me tell you something: I am a fan of cars, so I sold my 12 luxury cars. I took my investments out of the bank, without any financial support from the party,” he said. Dr Asiedu said some people joined the party to make money, but his goal was to make history. “I made history in this region, and I will continue to make history until I am satisfied that everything is fine,” he said. “I came, I saw, I conquered” “I came, I saw, and I conquered, so the party should consider my hard work and give me another mandate to transform the NDC in the Central Region,” he said. “When people are rushing for positions, they should also remember what it was like when the party was in opposition.” Dr Asiedu predicted that he would win at least 90 per cent of the vote in the regional executive elections, scheduled for 14 November 2026. He credited his efforts for the NDC’s victory in 19 parliamentary seats in the Central Region. He promised to win the remaining four seats if he is given another term. Dr Asiedu said his vision is to make the Central Region an NDC stronghold before he peacefully hands over the chairmanship to a successor.
