Former Women's Commissioner of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Rebecca Kwofie, has filed her nomination to contest the position of Deputy Western Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The aspiring regional executive, who also served as Deputy Women's Organiser of the NDC's Birmingham Branch in the United Kingdom, is seeking to leverage her experience in party organisation, grassroots mobilisation and political activism to strengthen the party's structures in the Western Region. A native of Axim in the Western Region, Rebecca Kwofie has been actively involved in party activities over the years, holding leadership positions within the NDC's student and international branches. During the 2017/2018 academic year, she served as the Women's Commissioner of TEIN at KNUST, where she contributed to student political activities and the mobilisation of young women within the party. She subsequently served as Deputy Women's Organiser of the NDC UK Birmingham Branch from 2022 to 2026, gaining further experience in party organisation, leadership, and grassroots engagement. According to her, "She is seeking to bring her leadership experience to bear on efforts to strengthen the party's organisational structures and promote greater participation among women and young people."
