‘Will you stop doing business with me?’ – Mr Eazi asks mentor over TikTok criticism

Ghanaian-Nigerian musician Mr Eazi has shared how a mentor once questioned his public image after seeing a TikTok video of him, prompting him to defend his individuality. Speaking in a recent interview on 3Music, the singer recounted an encounter with the mentor, who raised concerns about how a video he had posted on TikTok might influence people's perception of him. Mr Eazi said the mentor brought up the issue during a meeting after they had finished eating, explaining that his child had shown him the video. According to the musician, the mentor felt the clip portrayed him in an unfavourable light and wanted to understand whether that image reflected his personality. “I posted something on TikTok. I had a meeting with a mentor. So when I met the mentor, after we finished eating, he told me, ‘I just want to advise you on something. There is something I have seen, and as your mentor, I have to tell you. My child showed me a video of you on TikTok, and I think it portrays you in the wrong light. I need to understand who you really are,’” Mr Eazi recounted. ‘I will never support that’ – Mr Eazi speaks against withholding artistes’ earnings He said he thanked the mentor for the advice but went on to ask whether the video would affect their existing business relationship. Mr Eazi explained that he reminded the mentor that they had substantial business dealings together and asked whether the TikTok video would make him reconsider working with him. The mentor reportedly assured him that their business relationship would remain intact despite his concerns about the video. The singer said the response gave him the opportunity to explain that he was his own person and should not be expected to conform to other people's personalities or expectations. “I told him, ‘Thank you so much, but I have a question for you. We do business together, right? We do big business together, right? So, because of that TikTok video, you are not going to do business with me?’ He said no,” he stated. He added, “I then told him, ‘Okay, so I am different. I am not you. I am Mr Eazi, and there is nobody you see with silver hair and puff-puff.” @fanfairwrld17 🥲❤️ #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fanfairwrld #viral ♬ original sound - Fanfairwrld FG/EB “We Can’t Adapt to This New Road Technology” | Ghanaians React to TRAFFITECH-GH
