Presidential Staffer for the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar, has announced plans for the Black Star Experience Secretariat to publish an annual report on Ghana’s fashion industry from 2027, aimed at providing reliable data and insights to support the sector’s growth.
Speaking at the maiden Black Star Fashion Week summit on November 4, 2026, Rex Omar said the report would provide a detailed assessment of the industry, including its size, structure, opportunities and challenges.
“Fashion industry, these are individuals who have contributed immensely to where we are today, often without the recognition they deserve. Their stories must be told, their contributions celebrated, and their legacies preserved for future generations,” he stated.
He explained that the initiative would serve as an important resource for industry players, government institutions, investors and international partners seeking to understand Ghana’s fashion ecosystem.
“Beginning next year, the Black Star Experience Secretariat will publish an annual Ghana fashion industry report.
“This report will be an important resource for the industry, providing credible data, insights and analysis to help us better understand the size, structure, opportunities and challenges of the fashion ecosystem,” he said.

According to him, the report will support investment decisions, inform government policies, identify growth opportunities and strengthen businesses within the fashion industry.
“It will support investment decisions, inform government policy, identify growth opportunities, strengthen businesses, and provide a clearer picture of Ghana's fashion industry to international partners and investors,” he shared.
He stressed that reliable data was necessary to develop the sector and attract the level of investment needed to expand its potential.
Rex Omar also highlighted the importance of recognising individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of Ghana’s fashion industry, noting that many have not received the recognition they deserve.
“We cannot adequately develop an industry we do not sufficiently understand, and we cannot attract the level of investment we desire without the data and evidence to support our ambitions,” he added.
