High Commissioner Obiri-Danso backs Golden Arms at World Championship
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the Republic of India, His Excellency Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso, has expressed deep admiration and absolute thrill after attending the grand opening ceremony of the 47th World Armwrestling Championship as a Special Guest of Honor in New Delhi, where he watched in awe as Ghana's gallant Golden Arms grappled for global glory.
Taking his seat among international sports dignitaries and diplomats during the opening ceremony, Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso looked on in awe as Team Ghana marched up stage with fierce national pride before stepping onto the Armwrestling tables.
The Golden Arms were impressive as they displayed technical skill, explosive power, and determination in their initial hook and toproll battles.

Distracted from standard diplomatic protocols by the sheer passion, discipline, and high-performance track record of the team, Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso made a passionate appeal for urgent, structured, and predictable financial backing for other sports disciplines, particularly Armwrestling.
"What I saw on the tables today is the absolute apex of Ghana’s resilience, discipline, and high performance. The Golden Arms have consistently delivered glory to our republic, winning over 500 medals and cementing our nation as the undisputed powerhouse of African arm wrestling. Yet, these champions fight relentlessly for every flight, every table, and basic preparation." H.E. Prof. Kwasi Osei Danso said.
The High Commissioner emphasized that "It is time our nation matches the intensity and sacrifices of these athletes with unyielding corporate and state support. I am calling directly on corporate Ghana, public institutions, and benevolent individuals to stand firmly behind the Golden Arms. They have done the heavy lifting to reach this world stage; it is our collective duty to ensure they stay at the top."
He assured the delegation of the High Commission's full diplomatic support and presence throughout their tournament campaign in New Delhi, urging the team to remain focused on bringing home global honours.
