pic 94183076 On Sunday, a group of New Patriotic Party members from the Volta Region, resident in Accra, which calls itself the Volta Region Resource Group, presented a life-size effigy of an elephant, the symbol of the party, to H.E. President J.A. Kufuor at his residence. The presentation was done to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the formation of the New Patriotic Party on July 22, 1992. The group said the metal elephant was also meant to represent the symbol of office of NPP Presidents and would be passed on to successive presidents who will come from the NPP after president Kufuor. President Kufuor was visibly amazed and impressed at the presentation and assured the group that he will strive to live up to the good attributes of the elephant and pass on the symbol successfully to the next president. The delegation of the Volta Region Resource Group was led by Hon Maj Courage Quarshigah (rtd), Minister of Agriculture. Other members of the delegation included Hon Elizabeth Ohene, Minister at the Office of the President; Miss Dzifa Ofori, CEO, Ghana Trade Fair Authority; Miss Gifty Ayeh (aka Daavi Ama of Dimples Junction), member of the Media Commission, and Dr Sammy Ohene of the Ghana Medical School. Other members were Emmanuel Ohene, legal practitioner; Herman Seshie, businessman; Dr Walter Bansa of Hobat Clinic, and Wing Cdr Apeatu (rtd).
