Yesterday: Four people were rescued by some local residents of Tetegu Estates when the Mitsubishi Lancer saloon car on which they were travelling veered off the road and plunged into the Densu River. The driver swerved and plunged into the river when he tried to avoid a head-on collision with an on-coming vehicle. Today: Densu accident victim dies A 50-year-old man, who was travelling with his three daughters from Cape Coast to Accra, died on admission at the hospital after the Mitsubishi Lancer saloon car on which they were travelling veered of the road and plunged into the Densu river at Tetegu Junction, near the Kasoa Barrier on Tuesday. The deceased, Mr Daniel Obeng, was conveying his daughter, Rosina Obeng, a final year student of the Holy Child Secondary School from Cape Coast to Tema, when the accident occurred. The two other sisters, Theresa Obeng and Janet Baidoo, survived the accident. Theresa and Rosina, who were rushed unconscious to a private clinic at Sakaman, in Accra were treated and discharged the same day. Janet and the father were initially sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where they were treated and discharged but following complaints by Mr Obeng of bodily pains while in the house, he was sent to the Tema General Hospital where he died moments after he was admitted. The vehicle, with registration number G.T 6565 F, has been salvaged from the river by the police. Briefing the Graphic, the Commanding Officer of the Accra West Division of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), Assistant Superintendent of Police, J.S. Waywoode, said the driver is suspected to have tried to overtake about three vehicles in a row. He said the driver swerved and plunged into the river when he tried to avoid a head-on collision with an on-coming vehicle. The body has been deposited at the hospital?s mortuary.
