Black Stars Skipper Stephen 'Tornado" Appiah on Sunday raised eyebrows at the Kumasi Sports Stadium when in one of his surging runs in search of goal he was wrestled onto the ground by Ugandan Philip Obimoh in the 37th minute. Appiah lost his rings in the process and appeared too disturbed by the loss, as he winced and searched everywhere for the rings, thought to be gold.

Appiah failed to locate it initially and so had to effect a free kick awarded the Stars as a result of the wrestling of Obimoh. Osei Kuffour managed to get his head to the kick but missed target narrowly.

After the kick Appiah still looked for the rings but to no avail and he had to abandon his search to go and play.

The Assistant Referee One who also joined in the search managed to locate one of the rings which had fallen into the grass for the player, but Appiah still turned the grass over for another ring obviously lost from the heckle. When the first half ended, the search attracted many helping eyes even, with cameramen, ball boys and Red Cross personnel joining in the search for the missing gold ring. Appiah had to walk away after the search seemed to hit a bad patch.
