'I saw a fiery finger warning me to repent' - Morris Babyface recounts spiritual encounters

Ghanaian musician and sound engineer Morris Babyface has recounted a series of disturbing dreams and experiences he says eventually pushed him to abandon his former lifestyle and turn to Christianity. The 46-year-old said that in 2009, while he was struggling to break away from what he described as a life of sexual excess, he repeatedly dreamt of fire and a finger pointing at him and warning him to repent. Speaking on The Delay Show, Morris Babyface said he would sometimes wake up from the dreams convinced that he needed to change his ways. “In 2009, I’d be sleeping and I would see a finger in the form of a fire cautioning me to repent from my evil ways,” he said. He recalled another dream in which he found himself surrounded by fire, with only the spot where his feet were standing left untouched. “The finger will come pointing at you again and caution you to change from your evil ways,” he recounted. According to Morris Babyface, the experiences made him fear that he would face divine punishment if he died without changing his lifestyle. “I would wake up from the dream, and would want to repent because intuitively, I know I’d go to hell when I die because of my acts,” he said. He also recounted experiencing what he described as sleep paralysis, saying he struggled to wake up before realising he was conscious while his body remained lying down. “There was a time I slept and had sleep paralysis, struggled to wake up only to realise I was awake but my body was lying down. That’s death,” he said. Morris Babyface said that although he wanted to repent, he struggled to break away from his former lifestyle. He recalled attempting to fast as part of his search for God, only for calls from women he had been involved with to derail his efforts. “I could fast in my quest for God to touch me but midway through the fast day, one of my campus girls would call me that she misses me,” he said. He said he eventually became a Christian through Bishop Emmanuel Amoah, whom he was introduced to by fellow musician Lazzy Dog, who had previously transitioned from secular music to Christianity. Morris Babyface said his eventual conversion helped him understand the experiences he had gone through and strengthened his decision to change his life. “The fact is that when you are in such situations and you decide to repent, that’s when the real war begins,” he said.
