External auditors to review DGPP purchases from 2021 - GoldBod CEO

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has disclosed that an independent audit is underway to examine the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP) from its launch in 2021.
The Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, said the exercise is expected to shed more light on the programme’s financial performance amid concerns over significant losses reportedly recorded by the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Gyamfi said the audit covers the entire period since the programme began.
He expects the findings to be ready by the third quarter of 2026.
Sammy Gyamfi cited figures contained in a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) report, which he said put losses associated with the programme at about GH¢22 billion in 2025, representing approximately 1.5% of Ghana’s GDP.
