Former Ghana's Most Beautiful contestant Ohemaa speaks on alleged theft case

Former 2023 Ghana Most Beautiful contestant Ohemaa Sappama Angela has addressed reports linking her to an alleged theft case in Kumasi.

It may be recalled that videos of Ohemaa recently surfaced on social media, where she was accused of stealing fabric and other items from a shop in Kumasi.

Addressing the situation, Ohemaa, who represented the Bono East Region in 2023, during a live TikTok session, debunked the claims.

Narrating what transpired, Ohemaa claimed that the reports circulating online are false, adding that she went to the shop she was accused of stealing from to purchase a dress.

According to Ohemaa, she had earlier informed the driver she had chartered that she was going to pick up an item. However, the driver allegedly misunderstood her and picked up a sack of items without her knowledge.

Ohemaa claimed that she saw a dress she liked at the shop and stopped to inquire about its price, only to be accused of theft.

“I saw a dress that looked nice, so I asked the driver to stop so I could go and buy it. But the driver thought the sack outside the shop was the item I had told him I was going for, so he picked it up without informing me. There was no one inside the shop when I entered. I didn’t even stay long in the shop.

“Immediately, I got out; a lady ambushed me and asked what I was doing there. I told her I had seen a dress that I wanted to purchase, but there was no one there, so I was leaving,” she said

According to her, after she was accused of stealing, the individuals around her forced her to purchase the dress and also took items she had already bought from other vendors.

“When they accused me of stealing, they forced me to purchase the dress I said I liked. They also started going through my things and picking whatever they wanted,” she added.

Meanwhile, Gossips24, in an interview with the owners of the shop and an eyewitness, alleged that Ohemaa had previously visited the community to scout the area ahead of the alleged theft.

According to an eyewitness, the Ghana Most Beautiful former contestant was allegedly at the shop with the intention of stealing because she had no intention of buying anything.

The eyewitness explained that after Ohemaa was apprehended with the allegedly stolen fabrics, she was forced to purchase the items she claimed she wanted to buy.

“When she came around, there was no one in the shop, but people were sitting around. She didn’t ask anyone about the whereabouts of the shop owner. We later saw her loading fabric from the shop into a sack.

“Even six months ago, she came here with a tricycle rider to withdraw mobile money worth about GH¢4,500 and ran away with it, so she thought we had forgotten. The rider isn’t part of this because he explained to us that Ohemaa told him she was coming to pick up an item from my shop,” the eyewitness claimed.
