Nana Ama McBrown urges youth to learn a trade
Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has encouraged young people to learn a trade regardless of their educational background.
She has stressed that success is possible for anyone willing to develop a skill and remain focused.
Speaking in a recent interview on Joy FM, McBrown said formal education should not stop people from acquiring practical skills, as having a trade can open doors to opportunities and financial independence.
“If you didn’t get a formal education, learn a trade. Even if you did have an education, still learn a trade or a handy job,” she advised.

According to the actress, every individual has value and potential irrespective of their circumstances, urging people not to allow their background to define their future.
“Everybody was born into this world with something, whether your parents are alive or they’re not alive, whether you have education or you don’t have, I want you to know that you’re somebody or who you think you are,” she added.
McBrown further stated that a person’s mindset plays a significant role in determining their future, stating that believing in oneself is the first step towards success.
“If you think you’re somebody, you will become somebody. If you think you are wayward or you’re just useless for anything, then you will be,” she maintained.
She also highlighted the opportunities created by social media, noting that the digital age has made it possible for people to build successful careers without necessarily following the traditional path.
“Right now social media has made people wealthy and popular. You don’t have to feel that because you didn’t go to school you won’t make it in life,” she said.
Encouraging young adults to identify their passions early, McBrown said people above the age of 20 should have a clear sense of direction and dedicate themselves to mastering a particular skill or profession.

“By this age above 20 you know what you want. You need to fall in love with something. The moment you fall in love with something, you learn about that something and you make sure you equip yourself in that something,” she stated.
She concluded by urging people to avoid chasing too many things at once, emphasizing that success comes from consistency and focus.
“Being everywhere doesn’t give you results. Focus on what you think you love and follow,” she maintained.
