'Now you know how it feels' - Sefa Kayi takes a swipe at Eric Adjei over Sammy Gyamfi
Ghanaian media personality and broadcaster Kwami Sefa Kayi has reacted to the recent verbal exchanges between the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi and the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Speaking on his Kokrokoo show on August 21, 2026, Sefa Kayi responded to comments made by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, during a discussion on the matter.
The discussion centred on Sammy Gyamfi’s response to Afenyo-Markin over allegations concerning losses allegedly incurred by GoldBod.
Gyamfi had strongly criticised the Minority Leader for repeatedly making claims that GoldBod suffered significant losses, describing the allegations as false.
Reacting to Gyamfi’s response, Eric Adjei said he understood the energy with which the GoldBod CEO had responded, arguing that it was difficult for anyone to have their reputation tarnished publicly.
“Chairman, it is not easy when someone destroys your reputation this way,” he said.
Sefa Kayi, who has previously had a public disagreement with Sammy Gyamfi over comments concerning his reputation, used the moment to remind Eric Adjei of the impact of reputational attacks.
“Now you know how it feels; you know it is not easy for someone to destroy your reputation, right? You know… then go out and bring me my stone,” Sefa Kayi said on the show.
Meanwhile, Sammy Gyamfi has denied claims by Afenyo-Markin that GoldBod incurred losses of $1.7 billion in 2025.
Addressing the claims during the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Gyamfi described them as “barefaced lies.”
He said the Minority Leader and some members of his party had repeatedly made the allegation on the floor of Parliament and in the media, despite previous efforts by GoldBod to disprove it.
“Afenyo-Markin and his followers alleged on several occasions on the floor of Parliament and the media that the Ghana Gold Board made losses in the year 2025 repeatedly. This claim is a barefaced lie which has been debunked times without number by the GoldBod,” he said.
According to Gyamfi, GoldBod instead recorded significant profits in 2025, with an overall surplus of GH¢5.4 billion.

He cited GoldBod’s audited 2025 financial statements as evidence, stating that the institution recorded an operational surplus of GH¢907 million and an overall surplus of GH¢5.4 billion.
“The audited annual reports and financial statements of the GoldBod for the year ended December 31, 2025, prepared and published by the Auditor General of Ghana, disclose an operational surplus of GH¢907 million and an overall surplus of profits of GH¢5.4 billion. This is an incontrovertible fact,” he added.
