‘I’ve frozen some of my eggs’ – Tiwa Savage reveals plans to have more children

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has revealed that she has frozen some of her eggs as part of plans to have more children in the future. The award-winning musician, who is already a mother, said she decided to preserve some of her eggs because she wants to keep open the possibility of having more children. In a video shared on social media, Tiwa Savage shared that she would encourage women to consider egg freezing once they reach the age of 30, noting that women are born with a finite number of eggs. “I do want more kids, but I’ve frozen some of my eggs. I actually want to say I would advise women that once they hit 30 to do that,” she said. According to Tiwa, many women may not be aware that the number of eggs they have is limited from birth and naturally declines with age. “A lot of people don’t know that we were born with a certain amount,” she explained. The singer mentioned that the decision was also influenced by the experiences of two of her friends, one of whom later wanted to have children but faced difficulties conceiving. Cheating is never a deal breaker for me – Tiwa Savage She explained that the friend now wishes she had preserved her eggs earlier. “I have two friends. One of them now wants to have kids and I think it didn’t work out. Now she wishes she had reserved and frozen her eggs,” Tiwa recounted. She also shared the story of another friend who had frozen her eggs before being diagnosed with cancer. According to Tiwa, the friend subsequently underwent chemotherapy but was able to retain the possibility of having children because she had preserved her eggs beforehand. “The other friend who had frozen her eggs and then she ended up finding out that she had cancer. She had to go through chemo, but thankfully, she had frozen her eggs. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t be able to have kids,” she stated. Tiwa Savage, however, expressed concern about the high cost associated with egg freezing, arguing that the procedure should be made more accessible to women. “I hate that it’s so expensive and I don’t think it should be expensive. I think it should be affordable so that many women could afford it,” she added.

“I’d love to have more kids, but I’ve frozen my eggs. 😳 I’d advise women to consider doing it before 30. I have a friend in her 40s who couldn’t have kids, while another froze her eggs before cancer treatment and was still able to have a child.” —Tiwa Savage pic.twitter.com/94NKKq7M3L
