'I was a lesbian' – Former GMB contestant Ohemaa Angela opens up

Former 2023 Bono Region Ghana’s Most Beautiful contestant, Ohemaa Angela, has opened up about her past, revealing that she previously identified as a lesbian.

According to her, the experience happened several years ago when she felt that same-sex attraction was part of her sexuality.

Speaking in an interview on Voice TV on August 24, 2026, Ohemaa shared that she became involved in same-sex relationships after realizing she was attracted to women.

“I was a lesbian and besides, the person I used to call godmother was once my lesbian dad and the person who was also discussing me on live was my lesbian mother,” she said.

She, however, stressed that she no longer identifies as a lesbian and described the experience as something that happened many years ago.

“I’m no longer a lesbian and that was many years ago,” she stated.

Ohemaa Angela explained that she did not deliberately plan to become involved in same-sex relationships but felt at the time that it was part of her sexuality.

“I became a lesbian when I felt at a point that it was part of my sexuality. It just happened and that was it,” she explained.

She also disclosed that her mother is unaware of that chapter of her life and expressed the hope that she would never find out.

“My mother is not aware and I pray she wouldn’t find out anything about this side of me,” she shared.

Reflecting on her relationships with women, Ohemaa Angela noted that she was usually the one who took the traditionally feminine role in those relationships.

She revealed that women would often approach her, although she also made advances towards women she was attracted to.

“I was always the female and the women who came to propose to me. When I see someone I like too, I do propose to them as well,” she added.
