Afenyo-Markin had a 'huge' contract with Judicial Service under Torkornoo - Thaddeus alleges

Renowned private legal practitioner, Thaddeus Sory, has alleged that Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin was outraged over the removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo because of his “personal interest”. Speaking in an interview on the KSM Show, aired on August 19, 2026, Thaddeus Sory asserted that the Minority Leader was fighting for Torkornoo to stay in office because he had something to lose if she was removed. He alleged that the Minority Leader had a contract with the Judicial Service, and this was what he was protecting. “There is now information coming out that there are services being rendered in the Judicial Service which are linked to Afenyo-Markin. He is rendering those services and getting commercial profits from them - huge ones. “And so, at this point in time, when Afenyo-Markin is making it look like, okay, there's a national public interest aspect of all of this nomination process, and there's some dispute and all of that. It has nothing to do with a minority position,” he said. IGP, CID, OSP, AG petitioned to investigate Afenyo-Markin over $1m extortion allegations Sory claimed the Minority Leader made the members of his caucus believe that he was championing a caucus in their interest, but he was not. “He sold it out to his colleagues to believe that, well, we all have to take a collective position against this, but it is a personal interest. “So the fact that we have show that you have an interest in her being there, and so he's crying louder than every other person because he has an interest in the woman being there,” he said.
