President Mahama set to cut sod for 7-storey car park, two hotels at the airport

President John Dramani Mahama is set to cut the sod for a new multi-tiered, multi-purpose car park and airport hotels complex at the Accra International Airport (AIA) on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The project will feature a seven-storey car park with more than 2,000 parking bays, two hotels and a pedestrian connector linking the complex to the airport terminal. According to a post by Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the development will also include a shopping mall with a food court, retail outlets and office spaces for rent. Other facilities planned for the complex are a sky lounge for entertainment and a sky observatory offering views of aircraft landings and take-offs. Kwakye Ofosu described the project as part of President Mahama’s investments in major, world-class infrastructure. He cited the Terminal 3 project at the Accra International Airport, the MPS Terminal at the Tema Harbour and the government’s efforts to secure US$400 million for the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project as examples of the President’s infrastructure initiatives. The new airport development is expected to increase parking capacity while providing additional hospitality, retail and commercial facilities for travellers and visitors.
