Four arrested over murder of two-time World Champion Zolani Tete

Authorities have arrested four people in connection with the murder of two-time world champion Zolani Tete, who was shot dead outside his residence in South Africa. According to the BBC, one of the suspects, a 22-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday, made his initial appearance in court and faces murder and attempted murder charges as proceedings continue. The remaining suspects also appeared in court to respond to charges, with two of them charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. The suspects reportedly fled the scene, prompting a major investigation. Four people have since been arrested as authorities continue efforts to identify and apprehend others who may be involved. The 38-year-old former world champion was killed in what has been described as an ambush in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape. Officials said Tete was in his car waiting for the gate to his house to open when two armed suspects wearing balaclavas emerged from a vehicle and fired “multiple shots” at him and a 27-year-old female passenger, who remains in hospital.
