Mahama Ayariga, Dr Zanetor vetting rescheduled to August 27

The Parliamentary Appointments Committee has rescheduled the vetting of Mahama Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to Thursday, August 27, 2026. The two nominees were originally scheduled to appear before the committee on Tuesday, August 25, as part of Parliament’s process for considering President John Dramani Mahama’s recent ministerial nominations. Mahama Ayariga, the Majority Leader and Chairman of Parliament’s Business Committee, has been nominated as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs. Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has been nominated as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology. The committee is expected to scrutinise their qualifications, experience and suitability for their respective portfolios before submitting its report to the House for consideration and approval. The nominations of Ayariga and Dr Agyeman-Rawlings were referred to the Appointments Committee by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on Monday, August 24. Their nominations followed President Mahama’s ministerial reshuffle announced on August 7, 2026. The vetting forms part of Parliament’s constitutional process for scrutinising presidential nominees before their appointments are presented to the full House for approval.
