We lost the 2024 election because we were weak - NPP’s Alfred Kumi

The NPP’s 2024 election defeat was caused by internal weaknesses rather than the strength of the governing NDC, according to National Youth Organiser aspirant Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi.
The National Youth Organizer aspirant said the party failed to mobilise its supporters effectively, which he believes contributed significantly to the defeat.
“I was clearly convinced in my heart that NPP did not lose to NDC. Neither did NDC win the election, but we lost to ourselves as a party,” he said.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he said he conducted a study with the Elephant Study Group in 2025 to understand the reasons behind the NPP’s defeat.
According to Kumi, the study identified several internal problems within the party and showed that “something was extremely broken”.
However, he believes the situation can still be fixed.
“It was broken but not destroyed. It was one that we could repair and make it new again,” he said.
