NPRA pays tribute to Bampoe Addo, praises his pension advocacy

The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has mourned the death of CLOGSAG Executive Secretary Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, remembering him as a strong workers’ advocate who consistently challenged the Authority to improve Ghana’s pension system. In a statement released by the Authority, the NPRA said it had worked closely with Bampoe Addo and described his engagements with the Authority as being driven by a genuine concern for workers. The Authority stated that he was particularly passionate about Ghana’s Three-Tier Pension Scheme and wanted workers to understand how the system worked, benefit from it and have confidence in it. 5 African business giants who stepped back from their companies According to the NPRA, Bampoe Addo was not afraid to challenge the pension regulator. “He asked difficult questions, raised important issues and, in his own way, continually encouraged the Authority to improve the pension system,” the statement said. The NPRA noted that it would especially miss his candid contributions and constructive criticism, describing his death as a loss not only to CLOGSAG and the labour movement but also to the wider pension community. It expressed its condolences to his family, colleagues and associates, and prayed for strength and comfort for them during the period of mourning.
