'We are not friends, but there is respect' - KiDi on relationship with Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian singer KiDi has clarified the nature of his relationship with former label mate Kuami Eugene, stating that they are not friends despite maintaining mutual respect for each other’s talent.

KiDi made these statements during an interview with Made in Ghana, where he was asked whether fans should expect a collaboration from him and Eugene.

He revealed that he already has songs with King Promise that will be released soon but was less certain about working with Kuami Eugene.

“With King Promise we have songs coming,” he said.

Speaking specifically about Eugene, he said, “Maybe in the future. But right now, you know… We are not friends, okay. But there is respect, at least from my side. Okay? I respect the talent, I respect the craft, I respect the artistry. But we are not friends.”

Explaining further, the singer stressed that not every professional relationship develops into a personal friendship.

“You know, no be everybody you dey work with wey you go be friends with. No be everybody wey dey your office wey you be friends with. So you go there, you go office, you work, you finish, you go house. But there is respect,” he added.

KiDi and Kuami Eugene both rose to prominence under Lynx Entertainment and were often regarded as two of the label’s biggest stars.

Their relationship has since been the subject of speculation among fans for some time, with many wondering whether they had fallen out.
