'I am ready to revive our party from its current doldrums' - Boakye Agyarko

Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Agyarko, has appealed to members of the party to entrust him with the mandate to lead as chairman. Filing his nomination on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Agyarko declared his readiness to revive and reposition the party once given the authority, stressing that his leadership would bring renewed energy and direction to the NPP. “I respond to a call to revive our party from its current doldrums. It is not a call I respond to lightly,” Agyarko said. BREAKING: President Mahama removes Brogya Genfi in second major reshuffle The former energy minister further declared that although the New Patriotic Party may currently be facing challenges, he is confident the party will rise again. “I believe that this, our NPP, will see its period of ease. And that period will be when we win power, make Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the President,” he stated. According to him, the difficulties confronting the NPP will soon be overcome, paving the way for the party’s flagbearer to ascend to the presidency. He also expressed confidence that the NPP would conquer its present challenges and return to government. “We may be down, but we are not out. NPP shall rise again. After every hardship, there is ease,” he declared. “NPP delegates, give me your votes, and we will finish the job that is ahead of you,” he added. Agyarko arrived at the NPP headquarters in the company of prominent party figures, Henry Quartey, Gyapa Mercer, Alhassan Tampuli, Matthew Nyindam, and supporters to file his nomination to contest as National Chairman.
