Akugri Gadafi Avokbil declares intention to contest as NDC Deputy Organizer for Obuasi East

Akugri Gadafi Avokbil, a former Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association (GNMTA) and current Operations Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Nurses Professional Forum (NDC Pro-Forum) in the Ashanti Region, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Deputy Constituency Organizer of the NDC in the Obuasi East Constituency.
In a statement on August 26, 2026, Avokbil said his decision was driven by his commitment to the NDC and a desire to contribute to consolidating the party’s electoral gains while responding to calls from grassroots members for him to serve at the constituency level.
He said he had conducted broad consultations across the constituency, which he described as receiving overwhelming endorsement and encouragement from party members.
According to him, he had also prayed and sought the guidance and direction of Almighty Allah before making the decision to contest.
Avokbil said his nearly decade-long experience as a student leader and youth activist had equipped him with the skills and experience required to serve effectively as Deputy Constituency Organizer.

“I firmly believe I possess the needed organisational skills, grassroots mobilisation capacity, and dedication to help organise, energise, and protect our party at the base,” he said.
He noted that with the NDC currently in government, the responsibility of party organisers had become even more important, particularly in maintaining strong connections with the grassroots.
He said organisers must help explain government policies, mobilise support for the NDC administration and contribute to efforts to retain political power beyond 2028.
Avokbil pledged to serve as “the voice and servant of the grassroots,” adding that he would remain committed to organising, mobilising and defending the party at the grassroots level.
He appealed to party members and supporters in the Obuasi East Constituency for their support and prayers as he pursues his ambition.
He expressed confidence that through unity, hard work, prayer and determination, the constituency could build a stronger and more united NDC and make the party attractive enough to retain power beyond 2028.
