‘It’s internet pressure; they will regret soon’ - Carter Efe on Peller and Jarvis’ marriage

Nigerian skit maker and comedian Carter Efe has stated that social media pressure influenced the decision of popular content creators Peller and Jarvis to tie the knot. Speaking in an interview, Carter Efe admitted he was not invited to the couple’s wedding and jokingly claimed they saw him as a “witch.” He was then asked whether he believed Peller and Jarvis’ relationship was genuine. ‘I made close to $50,000 in one night because of Davido’ - Carter Efe reveals Responding sarcastically, Carter Efe said, “It’s genuine, it’s genuine,” before adding that he believes external pressure from social media played a major role in their decision to get married. “To be honest, na pressure. I don’t want to talk too much about it, but pressure dey make some people do wetin they no suppose do,” he said. According to him, constant online comments predicting the couple’s breakup could have influenced their decision to prove critics wrong. “Because of the comments they see online like, ‘she will later leave this boy’ or ‘he will later leave her,’ those things enter their head. Then they say, ‘I will never leave her, we will marry,’” he explained. Carter Efe further argued that the internet can negatively affect people’s decisions if they are not mentally prepared to handle public opinion. “The internet is crazy. If you don’t understand it, it will get into your head, and after four or five years, you may start regretting it because those people don’t really care about you. You just have to live your life,” he said. When asked if he was speaking from experience, Carter Efe revealed that he had previously been in a relationship that revolved around content creation. “Oh, oh, oh. And we are the ones that started it,” he said. When asked whether he would date someone in the same line of work, Carter Efe firmly ruled it out, citing his experience with content creators. “I cannot date a content creator or any famous person. I know how women who love the content space behave. Every time it’s about engagement, followers, and what people are saying online. Those things control women when they are in relationships,” he said.
