‘Sleeping with fans can demote your shine’ – Reggie Rockstone

Ghanaian hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone has recounted an amusing encounter with a woman he once dated, explaining why his friends used to caution him against getting romantically involved with fans.
According to the music legend, his friends believed dating fans could sometimes affect the mystique and admiration surrounding a celebrity.
Speaking in an interview on Talk To Kula on August 26, 2026, Reggie Rockstone recalled an incident from years ago involving a woman who was familiar with his public image.
“My friends used to say we shouldn’t sleep with the fans. I remember years back, I was with this girl, when I was Reggie Rockstone; she was a fine sister,” he said.
He explained that after they had been intimate, the woman made a comment that caught him off guard while he was getting dressed.
“We did the ‘do’ and we were done; we were in an air-conditioned room. I was naked and I was trying to wear my clothes. The lady was lying on the bed watching me as I was wearing my clothes and she said to me, ‘So is this the Rockstone, Rockstone I’ve been hearing about?’ just because she had seen me naked,” he recounted.

Reggie Rockstone said the experience reminded him of the advice his friends had given him about maintaining the mystique associated with being a celebrity.
“When my friends say don’t sleep with the fans, it kind of demotes the shine,” he stated.
The hiplife pioneer, however, stressed that he never used his celebrity status to take advantage of women.
“I’ve never taken advantage of who I am in terms of my relations with women. Women love famous people, but I never took advantage,” he shared.
According to Reggie Rockstone, many of the women he dated genuinely liked him as a person and were not simply interested in his fame.
“I met real people and a lot of women I dated were real. They didn’t come to me because I was Reggie Rockstone,” he added.
