'Emmanuel Osei Kuffour was my most difficult signing at Hearts of Oak' - Harry Zakour

Former Hearts of Oak administrator Harry Zakour has revealed that signing legendary Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Osei Kuffour was the most difficult transfer he handled during his time with the club. In an interview with Sporty FM, Zakour disclosed that the deal was so challenging that he had to risk losing his personal car to secure the services of the talented midfielder, who was then playing for Cape Coast-based Ebusua Dwarfs. Asked about the most difficult transfer he handled during his time at Hearts of Oak, Zakour named Osei Kuffour. Asante Kotoko sign six new foreign players ahead of new season “It was Osei Kuffour. Even I had to lose my car,” Zakour revealed. According to him, Osei Kuffour, who was based in Cape Coast and playing for Ebusua Dwarfs at the time, had attracted interest from Asante Kotoko after the club had reportedly reached an agreement for his services. However, with payment yet to be completed, Hearts of Oak moved swiftly after learning that they were competing for the player’s signature. “Somebody came to inform us that we were fighting for him. You know how players are. They will look where they can get more money to go,” he explained. Zakour said he immediately travelled from Accra to Cape Coast with members of his team, including Alhaji and Nii Ayi-Bonte, to secure the transfer. “We had to travel from Accra to Cape Coast to go and grab Osei Kuffour. And we got him,” he said. Zakour added that Hearts of Oak’s quick intervention ensured they beat their rivals to the midfielder’s signature. “And Herbert thought he could get him, but it was too late,” he added.
