West African health stakeholders push greater investment in research and innovation

The Health Community of West Africa Association has held its Summit and Expo Awards in Accra, bringing together health professionals, researchers, traditional medicine practitioners, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to promote collaboration and innovation in healthcare. The event provided a platform to showcase products, services and research aimed at improving healthcare delivery and supporting the development of sustainable health solutions in West Africa. The organisers said the summit was intended to promote collaboration among stakeholders and create opportunities for knowledge-sharing across the health sector. Among the institutions recognised at the ceremony was Benadek Herbal Clinic and Research Centre, which received an award and certificate for its contribution to healthcare and herbal medicine research. The recognition highlights the clinic’s efforts to promote herbal healthcare, research and the development of alternative approaches to improving health outcomes. Participants at the summit called for greater investment in research and innovation, as well as stronger collaboration between conventional and traditional healthcare practitioners to address emerging health challenges. According to the organisers, the awards are intended to “encourage institutions and individuals making meaningful contributions to healthcare development” while strengthening partnerships among health stakeholders in West Africa. For Benadek Herbal Clinic and Research Centre, the award and certificate represent recognition of its work and a motivation to deepen its commitment to research and healthcare delivery.
