Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has cautioned his fans against attacking personalities on social media in his name, stressing that he does not condone such behaviour.
Speaking in a recent interview with Serwaa Amihere, Shatta Wale urged his supporters to defend him without dragging people he respects into their online battles.
“There are some things that we don’t condone here, but I will just say sometimes I tell my fans that when you’re doing things or if you’re fighting for Shatta Wale, fight for Shatta Wale. Don’t let me come and be seeing your tweets and I see that you’re attacking people that I even know," he stated.
He cited the Asantehene as an example, saying he holds the Ashanti Kingdom and the King in high regard and would not tolerate any of his fans disrespecting him.
“For instance, when I saw a tweet about Asantehene, I was like, hey, if Asantehene gave me a sword right now, you being my man, I will cut your head. That’s because I respect the Ashanti kingdom so much and I respect the king himself so much,” he said.

Shatta Wale explained that his appearance in court was not an endorsement of certain actions, but rather an attempt to establish the basis for the legal proceedings.
“All those things are not the reasons why I even went to the court. I only went to the court just to stand on why and what,” he shared.
He further noted that people could engage in actions without facing consequences for those particular acts, only for other conduct that may have gone unnoticed to eventually catch up with them.
“Sometimes you can do things and they won’t use those things to get you, but other things that you might think people are not seeing. That was what caught him up there, but it wasn’t that we’re endorsing that,” he added.
