Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster and Pan-Africanist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has questioned what former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy General Secretary Nana Obiri Boahen may have seen or heard to prompt his warning to President John Dramani Mahama.
In a social media post on September 14, 2026, Kwesi Pratt jnr drew attention to comments made by Nana Obiri Boahen on Wontumi TV, where he warned President Mahama to remain “extra vigilant” in his dealings with members of the NPP.
Nana Obiri Boahen claimed that some individuals were quietly plotting “evil” against the country and urged President Mahama to be particularly cautious.
The veteran journalist described the warning as “stern” and questioned what may have prompted the former NPP executive to make such a statement.
“WHAT A WARNING. What are we to make the stern warning to President John Dramani Mahama by Nana Obiri Boahen, former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)?,” Kwesi Pratt asked.

Nana Obiri Boahen referenced the February 24, 1966 coup that removed Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, from power, arguing that the overthrow demonstrated how political opponents could bring down a government despite its achievements.
He also attributed the 1966 coup to the direction of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America.
Kwesi Pratt noted that Obiri Boahen acknowledged the achievements of the Nkrumah administration but maintained that its opponents eventually succeeded in overthrowing the government.
The comments have prompted the key question at the centre of Kwesi Pratt’s post: “What exactly has Nana Obiri Boahen seen or heard that informed his warning to President Mahama?”
Kwesi Pratt further wrote: “Obiri Boahen insists that although the achievements of the Nkrumah government were admirable, his opponents still managed to overthrow him. The important question is what has Obiri Boahen seen or heard?”
