NACOC reveals how three suspects linked to ‘Bolle Jos’ alleged cocaine network were arrested

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has disclosed details of the intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to the network of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as ‘Bolle Jos’. The suspects were arrested over the weekend after NACOC operatives had monitored and gathered intelligence on them for some time, according to Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Francis Opoku Amoah. Speaking to Citi News on Monday, September 14, 2026, Amoah said the operation followed information received by NACOC after French authorities seized a major cocaine shipment allegedly linked to an international trafficking network. He explained that the suspects were not arrested immediately after the French seizure, as investigators had already been tracking their activities. NACOC arrests three after France seizes Ghana-linked cocaine shipment “The people we arrested here in Ghana are people that, while trailing, we've been working on for some time,” he said. Amoah said NACOC’s intelligence-gathering process involves monitoring persons of interest until investigators are sufficiently convinced that an intervention can be made. “Part of the work that we do sometimes is that you need to do a lot of monitoring and a lot of intel gathering so that, once you're certain, you can move in and make an arrest,” he added. The three suspects are currently in NACOC custody and are assisting with investigations as authorities work to establish their alleged roles and connections to the wider network. According to Amoah, the suspects are believed to be linked to a Dutch national who has allegedly been involved in drug trafficking activities across Europe. “We have the intel that they are linked to a Dutch person who has been doing a lot of drugs all over Europe,” he revealed. He added that NACOC is working with other security agencies as investigators prepare to put the suspects before court. The arrests come after French customs seized nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine, valued at about €225 million, from a shipment originating from Ghana.
