There was a heated exchange during a youth engagement in the Ningo-Prampram community after Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, clashed with some participants over the issue of unemployment.
The lawmaker stressed that job creation was not the responsibility of local assembly members, arguing that the issue should instead be directed to those responsible for creating employment opportunities.
Speaking during the engagement in a video shared on X on September 14, 2026, Sam George cited President John Mahama’s hometown as an example, insisting that unemployment persists there despite the President hailing from Bole-Bamboi.
“If you go to Bole-Bamboi, President John Mahama’s hometown, there are people who don’t have jobs, because their mama is from Bole. The assemblyman is not the one creating the jobs. The question I’m answering is on jobs.”

He urged participants to pay closer attention to the discussion, insisting that his remarks were in direct response to a question posed by one of the attendees.
“Gentleman, no, no, don’t say that. Maybe you were pressing your phone; you should pay attention. If you were paying attention, I’m answering her question. Her question is on jobs.”
Sam George further clarified that he was responding to a specific question and had not spoken out of turn.
“The lady sitting right next to you asked a question. I don’t speak out of turn. So it’s not to tell me to allow somebody to speak.”
His comments come amid ongoing public debate over youth unemployment and the role of political leaders in addressing the challenge.
