A driver’s mate of a DAF XF 95 truck has sparked safety concerns after he was captured cooking jollof rice on a gas cylinder while the vehicle was in motion.
The truck, with registration number GN 8043-16, was reportedly travelling when the mate was seen sitting close to the driver and preparing the meal using the gas cylinder.
A video shared on X on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, shows the mate focused on cooking the jollof rice inside the moving truck, with the gas cylinder positioned beside him.
The incident has raised concerns about the potential dangers of using an open flame inside a moving vehicle, particularly one carrying a fuel-powered engine and travelling on a public road.

The use of a gas cylinder in such circumstances could result in a fire or explosion if the cylinder, hose or flame is compromised, potentially putting the lives of the driver, mate and other road users at risk.
