Police reportedly arrest suspect after break-in at Kwabena Adu-Boahene’s home

An intruder reportedly broke into the residence of former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene at about 1:30am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, before security personnel arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Airport Police Station. According to a post circulating on social media, the incident occurred at about 1:30am after the intruder allegedly breached the electric fence and alarm systems at the residence. The Republic v. Kwabena Adu-Boahene and Others: Full proceedings The post said the suspect gained access to the hall through a glass window near the kitchen but was intercepted and arrested by security personnel at Mayfair Estate. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Airport Police Station, according to the account. It further claimed that, upon his arrest, the suspect pleaded with the security personnel to kill him rather than cooperate. It further disclosed that Adu-Boahene, his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, and their four children had been left traumatised and feeling unsafe following the incident. Adu-Boahene, his wife and Advantage Solutions Limited are standing trial over the alleged loss of GH¢49.1 million to the state in connection with the procurement of a cyber-defence system. The prosecution closed its case after calling four witnesses, including an Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigator. The state alleges that Adu-Boahene used “clever means” to take the funds from a state agency and, with the assistance of his wife and their company, spent the money. The accused persons have denied the allegations and are facing charges including stealing, money laundering and causing financial loss to the Republic. The prosecution has alleged that the funds were diverted through three cheques into a private company account and subsequently used for various purposes, including property-related transactions. The defence, however, has challenged the prosecution’s interpretation of the evidence and is preparing a submission of no case to answer. The Accra High Court has given the defence until September 25, 2026, to file its submission, after which the prosecution will have 14 days to respond. The case has been adjourned to November 5, 2026, for a ruling on the submission of no case to answer.
