Ghana's FDI inflows rose from $640m to $2.5 billion in 2025 - President Mahama

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into Ghana increased significantly from $640 million in 2024 to $2.5 billion in 2025. FDI refers to investments made by foreign individuals or companies in businesses or assets in another country, usually with a long-term interest in the investment. Speaking on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Sentuo Airport Garden City project, President John Dramani Mahama attributed the increase to an improved business environment, prudent financial management and renewed investor confidence in Ghana’s economy. Zonda Tec deepens investment in Ghana with third vehicle assembly plant According to him, the sharp increase in FDI inflows is an indication of growing confidence in Ghana as an investment destination. “An enabling environment created by prudent financial management is leading to an exponential increase in foreign direct investment. From a low of $640 million in 2024, FDI inflows into Ghana have shot up to a significant amount of $2.5 billion in 2025,” he said. President Mahama clarified that the $2.5 billion figure excludes machinery, plants and equipment brought into the country as part of foreign investments. He said the government would continue to strengthen the business environment and support investors whose activities contribute to Ghana’s long-term development. “We’ll continue to strengthen the business environment and support investments that contribute meaningfully to our country’s development,” he stated. However, the President said foreign investors must comply with Ghanaian laws while creating opportunities for local businesses and workers to benefit from their investments.
