Osagyefo headlines Kwame Nkrumah Reggae Festival

Ghanaian reggae artiste Osagyefo is set to lead a star-studded line-up at this year’s Kwame Nkrumah Reggae Festival, an event that seeks to celebrate the legacy of Ghana’s first President and his contribution to the liberation and unity of Africa through the powerful sounds of reggae music. The festival, being organised by Reggae Network, will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Gold Coast Restaurant and Lounge at Cantonments in Accra, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. Olu Jacobs: A look at the life and legacy of the late Nollywood icon Osagyefo, who is billed as the headline act, will share the stage with some of the country’s well-known reggae artistes, including Royal Souljah, Ras Boomba, Kojo Kombolo and Nana Ntow, as well as other artistes who are expected to add their voices to the celebration. The night will also feature performances backed by the Nananom Band and Taking Over Band, promising patrons an evening of authentic live reggae music. The festival is expected to be more than just a night of music and entertainment. It is being positioned as a musical celebration of the ideals and legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, whose leadership was instrumental in Ghana’s independence and whose vision for African unity extended beyond the country’s borders. Nkrumah led Ghana to independence from British colonial rule in 1957 and became a major voice for the liberation of other African countries. He strongly advocated for African unity and supported the broader struggle for independence across the continent. For organisers, Reggae music has long been associated with messages of freedom, justice, resistance, equality, African consciousness and social change.
