Man jailed 10 years for defiling 11-year-old girl

A 37-year-old farmer, Tibini Atta, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for defiling an 11-year-old girl at Digangan, a farming community in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, September 24, 2026, after the victim allegedly accompanied Atta to a farm, where he had sexual intercourse with her. The girl reportedly sustained injuries and required medical attention. According to a report by adomonline.com on September 27, 2026, the victim’s uncle, a farmer, reported the incident to the Kpandai Police at about 2:55 p.m. on the same day. The victim was subsequently taken to the Kpandai District Hospital and admitted for treatment. However, a nurse attending to her informed police investigators who visited the facility that she would be referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further management due to the severity of her injuries. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment. Investigators from the Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Tamale have since visited the victim at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where she is receiving further treatment. The Northern Regional Police Command said the girl is responding to treatment and her condition is being closely monitored. The Command added, they would continue to liaise with the hospital and other relevant stakeholders to support her recovery.
