Drug Bust: 7 arrested in midnight swoop at Kenyasi

Police in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region have arrested seven suspects and impounded several unregistered and unlicensed motorbikes during a night operation targeting suspected illegal drug activities in Kenyasi.
The operation was conducted on the night of September 30, 2026, at a suspected hideout in the district capital, where police swooped in as part of efforts to clamp down on criminal activities.
Several other suspects reportedly fled the scene after spotting the police and managed to escape.
According to a report by adomonline.com on October 1, 2026, the Asutifi North District Police Commander, Superintendent Harold Yamoah Ponkor, said the operation formed part of intensified night patrols to increase police visibility and deter criminals.

He said the exercise was also part of a series of planned operations aimed at dismantling suspected criminal hideouts and ridding the district of drug peddlers and other groups allegedly involved in criminal activities.
Superintendent Yamoah Ponkor said the seven suspects would be processed for court today or tomorrow as investigations continue.
He added that the police were pursuing the suspects who escaped and would sustain the operations to maintain security and curb criminal activities in the district.
