Watch as Nigerian woman is rescued after attempting to jump from roof in Ghana

A Nigerian woman residing in Ghana has been rescued after reportedly attempting to jump from the roof of an uncompleted building in an apparent suicide attempt. The incident was captured in a video circulating on social media, showing the young woman standing alone at the peak of the corrugated metal roof of a multi-storey uncompleted building. Several people, including men and women, could be seen gathered on the lower levels of the structure and on the ground below, looking up at the woman and attempting to persuade her to come down. As the situation unfolded, one of the men at the scene managed to make his way up the structure and towards the woman, apparently in an effort to prevent her from jumping. He eventually reached her on the roof and helped bring her down from the dangerous position, with other individuals at the scene assisting to ensure she was safely moved away from the edge of the building. How a dog alerted US officials to intercept prohibited yams, vegetables from Ghana at JFK airport Commentary heard in the background of the video suggested that the woman was in Ghana for commercial sex work and had allegedly been subjected to prolonged abuse and mistreatment by her madam. The claim has not been independently verified, and the circumstances that led to the woman's distress remain unclear. “She is one of the Nigerians who are into commercial sex work, but their madam has been mistreating them so much for long,” the commentary said in Twi. The video ends with the woman being helped down from the roof by some of the men who had gathered at the scene. Viewer discretion is advised
