Manhyia South MP pleads not guilty in GH¢9m financial loss case

Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has pleaded not guilty to three charges, including intentionally causing financial loss to the public purse amounting to over GH¢9 million.
The 44-year-old legal practitioner also denied charges of conspiracy and money laundering.
He is alleged to have conspired with the Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans in 2020 and subsequently transferred GH¢1 million while knowing that the money was proceeds of crime.
Currently, Deputy Attorney-General Dr Justice Srem-Sai is presenting the brief facts before the High Court, presided over by Justice Charity Akosua Asem, a Justice of the Court of Appeal sitting as an additional High Court judge.
His lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, is expected to move an application for bail.
